MALLARD DUCKS

I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park. It was pretty windy and a little cool but it was still nice to be by the mountains and the lake. I saw these two male mallard ducks fighting with each other. They were fighting over the one female that was with them. I never thought that mallards fought. I always thought they were peaceful birds. I guess I was wrong.

Paul Lake Provincial Park

I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park. It was pretty windy and a little cool but it was still nice to be by the mountains and the lake. I really like Paul Lake because it is very peaceful there and serene.

Wild Daisy

I saw this wild daisy at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. Most of the wild daisies were all shriveled up and dead but this one was still nice and healthy.

DEER

I went camping at Paul Lake Provincial Park for the night. I saw this deer standing in the long grass beside the field on the way to the Pinnatan Store. I also saw a cinnamon coloured bear cub on the way into the Paul Lake Provincial Park but I got so excited that I ended up turning the camera off so I didn’t get a picture of him.

DUCK

I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park. I saw this duck sitting in the lake. I have no idea what kind of duck it was or whether it is a she or a he, although I’m assuming it is a he because of the bright colours. This duck didn’t stray too far away from the one spot I saw it. I did see it go underwater for several minutes at a time. I’ve never seen this kind of duck before but I thought it was a nice little duck.

CATTLE ROUND-UP

I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park and right outside of the park I saw a cattle round up. I have never seen a real cattle round up before so this was quite interesting to see. Now I know for sure I live in the wild, wild west.

RED SQUIRREL

I saw this red squirrel eating some pine cones on the ground at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. I didn’t get too close to this squirrel or spend too much time around him because he seemed to be a little sickly. He was missing a big patch of fur on his back. This might have been due to fleas or he may have had a case of rabies. Either way, I didn’t really want to find out.

Toad

I was at Paul Lake Provincial Park looking in ground squirrel holes to see if it was being occupied by a ground squirrel and in this particular hole I saw this toad. I think it was a perfect hiding spot for him. He just sat and stared at me with his big beady eyes. Toads are very strange. I like watching them hop around because they are quite comical.

Ground Squirrel

I saw some ground squirrels at the Paul Lake Provincial Park, which is just outside of Kamloops, BC. Ground squirrels and just like prairie dogs. I had almost forgotten that British Columbia had these cute little critters. These animals let you get so close to them and then they pop themselves into a hole and come up through a hole somewhere else. They have tunnels dug under the grass that lead to holes everywhere. You do have to be careful not to step into the holes they create because you could hurt your ankles.

GOSLINGS

There were a couple of families of Canada Geese at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. One family had five goslings, one family had six goslings and the other family had one. The goslings were so cute. I love seeing baby geese. In fact I love seeing baby animals of all kinds.
