LILLOOET, BC

I went for a drive to Lillooet, BC. Lillooet is located on the Fraser River. Lillooet was a major hub for transporting goods from Vancouver to the inland or vice-versa. It is a very scenic area. There are a lot of mountains around this area that have snow-caps on them.

BATCHELOR HEIGHTS

It was a nice day so I decided to go for a little drive. I went up the Batchelor Heights Road in Kamloops, BC. It was awesome up there. I never knew it so beautiful. Batchelor Heights is like on the top of a mountain and it is part of Lac De Bois Grassland Park. It is very high up and the view is spectacular as you are able to see the whole city of Kamloops.

WATERFALLS

I went for a day drive to Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, just outside of Chase, BC. I saw this waterfalls at a rest stop on the side of the road. I have been to this rest stop before and never noticed it. Waterfalls are pretty cool. They are mighty and dangerous. One slip or fall and it would be a pretty rough trip.

OLD TREE

I went for a day drive to Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, just outside of Chase, BC. Shuswap Lake Provincial Park has a lot of really old trees in it. Some of them are very tall too like the one in this picture. This tree is probably 150 years old or more and it is probably sixty feet tall or more.

Paul Lake Provincial Park

I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park. It was pretty windy and a little cool but it was still nice to be by the mountains and the lake. I really like Paul Lake because it is very peaceful there and serene.

Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park

I went camping for the night at Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park. Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park is located just outside of Logan Lake, BC.
It was the May 24th long weekend here in Canada and just like any other May 24th long weekend, the weather proved to be terrible. It rained, it was very windy and it was very cold. Next May 24th long weekend, I don’t think I’m going to go camping unless it is at least 30 degrees Celsius. It was just too miserable and too cold to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

SOUTH THOMPSON RIVER

I went to the grassland park and was very surprised to see how much the South Thompson River was starting to rise. There are concerns this year about flooding in the Kamloops area. The ice has not come down from the mountains yet and that will happen in the next few weeks, especially now that the weather is getting warmer every day here. We usually have a lot of sandy areas on the beaches along the North and South Thompson Rivers but right now the water has covered up most of it. In April, I was up in the snow-covered mountains in Valemount and believe me there is a lot of snow and ice to come down off the mountains yet and something else I didn’t realize is that the North Thompson River goes all the way up to the Valemount area.

CACTUS

I went for a drive in the Grassland Park in Kamloops, BC. I saw some cactus. The cactus we have here are very small, only about an inch tall. I definitely would not want to walk barefoot in these parts though because it would definitely hurt to step on them. Even these little cactus have prickles.

LOG CABIN

I went for a drive on Duck Creek Road, just outside of Kamloops, BC. I saw this old log cabin. I love old log cabins, especially when they are nestled into the mountains. This log cabin is pretty rugged looking but that just makes it more interesting. I’d love to have an old log cabin to fix up and eventually live in. That would be awesome.

CONSERVATION AREA

I went for a drive on Campbell Creek Road, just outside of Kamloops, BC. There is a conservation area for ducks. I took a walk to this bridge and there were a lot of ducks sitting in the water around it and as I approached them they all flew away. Usually they stick around so I can take their pictures but these ones were a little bit skittish.
